Summary

Reports to the Mine Maintenance Planning Superintendent.

The Mine Maintenance Technical Coordinator – Rotables, Staging & Inventory Control, will provide technical direction to the inventory team in relation to rotable component repairs, component storage & parts inventory. They will use their extensive experience in component management to ensure effective & cost efficient “cradle to grave” management of TFM mine maintenance components & inventory by developing & implementing world class maintenance strategies and procedures to ensure components, parts and general maintenance inventory are available and are stored to world ‘best practice’ standards, to enhance TFM’s maintenance quality and safety standards.

 

Essential Functions
  • Assist, oversee and train planners, inventory controllers & supervisors in the proper methods of
  • Mobile Equipment maintenance planning with relation to parts procurement.
  • Develop strategies and systems for the equipment to meet rebuild life at lowest cost and
  • highest availability.
  • Implement Product improvement strategies to extend equipment life through a rebuild program
  • Promote and apply “Constant improvement” methods to the fleet strategies.
  • Be the primary point of contact for the inventory team in relation to Mine maintenance issues in
  • order to control costs and look for ways to reduces costs for the fleet
  • Review inventory & stock levels on a regular basis & work with the inventory team to minimize stock
  • holdings & non‐moving parts while maintaining critical stock for fleet support.
  • Liaise with the equipment OEM’s to ensure equipment is maintained to standards and issues are
  • resolved.
  • Identify & communicate to management deficiencies in the inventory strategies & provide effective
  • solutions.
  • Work with the Mine Maintenance Reliability team to ensure corrective actions are communicate to operations to advance operator skill levels through timely feedback

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
Position involves work to be predominantly executed in rural areas of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Resources can be limited, so the candidate must be a self-starter, have good personal organization skills for managing activities across multiple sites and in challenging circumstances

Work is in a mine or processing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see

Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday

Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

Physical Demands

Position Type
This is a full-time position.

Travel
International travel of up to 20% is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience
  • Three (3) years previous experience as a maintenance planner/inventory controller with rotable components.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in a surface mining maintenance operation
  • A strong commitment to Health, Safety & Environment standards.
  • Heavy Equipment Fitter/Mechanic Trade.
  • Certificate II or equivalent experience in Warehouse/Inventory control ‐ desirable
  • Forklift Operators License
  • Strong analytical and planning skills.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diversified workforce.
  • Computer skills.
  • Strong English skills, both oral and written – French language skills highly regarded
  • Advanced Warehouse/Inventory Storage skills
  • Knowledge and experience with failure analysis
  • Strong experience with Equipment Maintenance
